CNNCTS Community Conversations Webinar Series: Save the Dates!

Join us for the upcoming Community Conversations webinar series, a 5-part event beginning in September 2024 designed to explore the different areas of focus for the Collaborative of Native Nations for Climate Transformation and Stewardship (CNNCTS) and our community-based approach to advancing Indigenous-led stewardship.

Join us for the Community Conversations webinar series, a 5-part event designed to explore the areas of focus behind CNNCTS and our community-based approach to advancing Indigenous-led stewardship. Webinar sessions will be held once a month beginning in September 2024 and ending in January 2025.


Sessions schedule and topics

Each session includes brief lightning talks from partners on their programs, reserves, projects, and research followed by breakout rooms for deeper discussions. 


  • "Campus Connections" | September 30, 2024 | 2:00PM - 3:30PM

    • Join us for the first Community Conversation in the webinar series, Campus Connections, where we’ll explore how the "Advance Science-Informed Climate Action" area of focus engages with students, researchers, and community members in the co-production of knowledges, interdisciplinary curriculum development, and research collaborations. This session will feature speakers from partner universities, focusing on the university/community connection and the integration of Indigenous practices with academic research.

  • "Living Labs" | October 17, 2024 | 10:00AM - 11:30AM

    • The Living Labs session in the Community Conversations webinar series will highlight the CNNCTS "Translate Knowledges to Practice" area of focus. This session will feature speakers from natural reserves and programs that provide university students and community members with hands-on learning and opportunities to test adaptation strategies. Hear from reserve managers about the ongoing projects and research at key sites, bridging knowledge and practice for environmental stewardship.

  • "Demonstration Projects" | November 19, 2024 | 1:00PM - 2:30PM

    • The Demonstration Projects session in the Community Conversations series will focus on the "Put Adaptation Into Action" area of focus. This session will highlight community-led stewardship projects that foster co-stewardship and intertribal collaboration. Learn how established projects are supported and scaled to build resilience, promote environmental stewardship, and advance climate adaptation strategies through hands-on initiatives.

  • "Stewardship Pathways" | December 3, 2024 | 2:00PM - 3:30PM

    • In the Stewardship Pathways session of the Community Conversations series, the focus will be on “Expanding Landscape Stewardship Pathways.” This area of focus emphasizes workforce development through training in plant propagation, fire and fuels management, GIS, and climate monitoring. The session will also cover train-the-trainer programs, regional hubs, and focus groups on coastal and fire stewardship, aimed at growing partnerships and expanding stewardship efforts across the region.

  • "Entrepreneurship" | January  7, 2025 | 1:00PM - 2:00PM

    • The Entrepreneurship session of the Community Conversations series will highlight how CNNCTS is "Supporting Social Entrepreneurship." This session will delve into how promoting social entrepreneurship contributes to building a climate-resilient economy by supporting Indigenous-led businesses. Learn about the expansion of entrepreneurial training opportunities for Tribal partners and how evaluating market opportunities fosters economic growth for Indigenous Fire, Forestry, and Fuels Crews. These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to advancing climate resilience and community-driven solutions.

CNNCTS puts adaptation into action by investing in community-led stewardship demonstration projects. These established projects support co-stewardship and intertribal collaboration.
